In this historical fiction novella "Sands of Betrayal," inspired by true events and set in 1921 in racially segregated Oklahoma, we are transported to the thriving and prosperous Greenwood District.
This community, established by black Americans in Tulsa, stands as a testament to their resilience and success, despite facing envy and distrust from the neighboring white communities. At the heart of it all is Henry J. Parker, the visionary founder of Greenwood. His brainchild, known as the Black Wall Street, gains unprecedented influence and fosters hope within the community. However, tragedy strikes when Henry's teenage son is wrongfully accused of raping a white girl, who happens to be a lift operator in a local building. As tensions escalate and his son is unlawfully arrested. Henry uncovers a horrifying truth: there are individuals intent on lynching his son before a fair trial can even take place. Now, burdened with the imminent threat of a hangman's noose, Henry embarks on a race against time to save his beloved son. Along the way, he must navigate the treacherous landscape of a community at the breaking point, desperately avoiding a confrontation with the Ku Klux Klan, who seek to dismantle all that Greenwood represents. Will this be the ultimate downfall for Greenwood and the resilient community that has defied all odds?
